Tip From The Trenches

Date Published: June 20 2013

Is a patient guaranteed to get a power wheelchair if a physician uses DMEevalumate.com?

The goal is to accurately determine who qualifies for PMD, as per Medicare Coverage Criteria, and to document medical justification that will receive Prior Authorization approval and pass Audits. The goal is not to guarantee power mobility equipment for everyone.

DMEevalumate.com was designed in collaboration with physicians in an effort to provide healthcare practitioners with an easy and accurate solution to Medicare’s medical equipment documentation requirements. The program acts as an intermediary between the physician and the Medicare Coverage Criteria, to determine what PMD equipment, if any, the patient qualifies for. If the patient doesn’t qualify, the physician needs to answer further questions to determine if the patient qualifies for any other type of assistive device, such as canes and walkers.

DMEevalumate.com lets the physician and patient know if they are going to qualify for any equipment. If the patient does qualify, it ensures that the paperwork is compliant and produced in the preferred Medicare format.
