Today the DME industry faces a new range of face-to-face paperwork challenges. Each day it seems Medicare criteria requirements change, which in turn demand different operational solutions. What worked a few months ago, doesn’t work today. Unfortunately this can quickly have a negative impact on your DME business. The bottom line, you can’t continue to do DME business with non-compliant and inaccurate face-to-face paperwork from your referrals.

Practitioners are expected to conduct face-to-face examinations for DME equipment and supplies; Power Mobility Equipment, Home Oxygen, CPAP and BiPAP and General DME items such as manual wheelchairs, hospital beds, support surfaces, canes, crutches and walkers, commodes, urological supplies and diabetic supplies. If during the face-to-face exam the patient doesn’t meet part of the requirement, alerts the practitioner of the coverage criteria and suggests the most appropriate equipment.
